Barracuda Backup Grows Four-times Faster than Market as reported by Leading Analyst Firm.

Campbell, Calif. -- October 9, 2013 -- Barracuda Networks, Inc., a leading provider of security and storage solutions, today announced that the company continues its momentum as reported by the IDC Worldwide Purpose-Built Backup Appliance (PBBA) Tracker, Q2, September 2013. According to the report, Barracuda shipped the highest volume of integrated systems. The report also indicated that Barracuda Backup ranked number two based on total units sold. Barracuda grew revenue 31 percent year-over-year, over four-times faster growth than the overall PBBA market.

Customers continue to select Barracuda's end-to-end backup solution for its seamless integration into existing infrastructures. Just last month, Barracuda announced Barracuda Backup 5.4 with offsite vaulting, extending the life of local appliances, and availability of local caches greater than 100TB. In addition, Barracuda Backup also has deployed Cloud LiveBoot, allowing virtual machines (VMs) to boot from the backup appliance or from the cloud in the event that access to local servers or primary storage is lost.

"Data protection is a critical function for IT organizations but one that should provide security and operate with low overhead. More and more organizations are turning to Barracuda for its integrated storage and security solutions," said Rod Mathews, GM Storage, Barracuda. "We are pleased our success is reflected in IDC's PBBA Tracker as it further validates our key strategy to solve customers' problems in the easiest way possible."

IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Purpose Built Backup Appliance Tracker provides vendor share, market size, and forecasts for purpose-built backup appliances. IDC provides key market insights and growth for vendors participating in the PBBA market as well as those that may introduce new products. Revenue and capacity for disk systems behind PBBA gateways is included in the PBBA market sizing and also in the forecast. Some PBBA solutions integrate the data movement engine (backup application) with the appliance, while others serve as only a target for incoming backup application data. Both solutions are included in the PBBA market sizing, although segmentation between the two product categories is provided.
