Barracuda Introduces Market Disruptive Pricing and Simplified User Interface
Posted: Fri Jul 24, 2009 11:37:00 AM

Barracuda Networks Inc., the worldwide leader in content security appliances, today announced enhancements to the user interface of the BarracudaWare Yosemite Server Backup that will drastically improve the customer experience. In addition, with a simplified pricing structure that features only four options – ranging from $299 for single server to only $1499 for unlimited usage – Yosemite Server Backup is the most affordable data protection solution available.

“Until now there has not been an affordable, full-featured backup option for organizations that matches their network needs out of the box,” said Stephen Pao, vice president of product management for Barracuda Networks. “Restructuring the Yosemite Server Backup pricing ensures that organizations of all size can afford a solution that fits within their budgets and that does not charge extra for crucial features and additional options.”

Yosemite Server Backup combines superior performance and flexibility for backup utilities with operating systems and devices without the complex licensing and administration models of other commercial backup solutions. The Yosemite Server Backup product is available in four affordable packages with no additional fees for clients, servers, agents or other options.

New Pricing Leads to 90 Percent Savings for Customers
Howe Electric Construction Inc., one of the largest union electrical contracting firms in Central California for more than 50 years, displaced Symantec’s Backup Exec in favor of the Yosemite Server Backup Unlimited package to protect the data on the company’s eight Windows and Linux servers. Since deployment, the company has experienced dramatic savings.

“The solution we were using was costing us a fortune, so we decided to look for a more affordable alternative,” said Joe Glessner, IT manager for Howe Electric. “We couldn’t believe the cost savings associated with the Yosemite Server Backup, so we downloaded the trial version and were amazed by the great features and ease of use. We now save 90 percent over what we were paying for the previous solution and enjoy all of the same benefits and more.”

The Yosemite Server Backup is a complete and affordable data backup and protection solution, enabling fast backup and restore of all data in the event of disaster. With broad support for multiple server applications, operating systems, and backup devices, Yosemite Server Backup provides a centralized interface to manage your entire backup strategy.

* Cross-platform support for Windows, Linux, and NetWare
* Agents for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, and more
* "Bare Metal Restore" from backups
* Efficient compression and encryption of data
* High-performance, concurrent data streams for backup and recovery
* Backs up to disk, CD/DVD, tape drives, autoloaders, and robotic libraries
* Automated scheduling and media rotation interfaces
* Alerting of backup completion or errors
* Centralized management across multiple servers, applications, and devices

Simplified Navigation and Deployment
Barracuda Networks has also reduced the number of screens used within the interface of the Yosemite Server Backup to help ease the navigation and deployment of the solution on the customer’s network. These enhancements, included with Yosemite Server Backup version 8.8, also include access to logs from a central location, simplified job configuration and user control as well “right click” functionality for device operations.

The user interface also makes scheduling backups easy through a simple calendar interface. For removable media systems, Yosemite Server Backup can automate and guide an organization’s tape rotation strategy. For automated media libraries, Yosemite Server Backup can automatically control any robotics that load media. Automated email notifications can keep administrators informed of backup completions or any problems encountered during backup operations.
